The BSA year 3 (Browne School of Art) show will be running this week to showcase the work of 26 students, myself amongst them. Unfortunately now due to restrictions we aren't now able to have more than 100 people on site for the opening. So with family coming we aren't able to really invite anyone else. Believe me we are all a bit guttered. But we would love you to come along to the Exhibition, which runs all day this Thursday 8th Dec till 5pm Sunday 12th December. Vaccination certificates needed upon arrive please.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, how do I start, after the year that's been and continues to give in very strange and new ways?
Firstly I hope this finds you well and safe. I hope you have managed to enjoy some of this time at home (in varied amounts depending on where in the world you are) and have found some goodness in this strange situation we find ourselves in. Here in Auckland we are in a half way holding pen it seems, between true freedom & complete Lockdown, currently in Level 3 pt. something🧐. How easily it all becomes normal until a new rule or new privilege is introduced and and then our responses all become very personal. The main thing I take from all this is you cant assume to know why anyone does what they do, their reasons are very individual. Their health history or protocols, their family circumstances, research, age and relationships, income streams, religion and home life all come into play is such potentially life altering times.
The 2nd half of 2020 has been strange creatively for me; after such an industrious first half of the year; one I still cant quite believe and feel so grateful to be able to say was my 2020, Lockdown came as the enforced breather I needed. But then the waves of angst around covid, vaccines and politics begun and my hope to reignite my flow quickly wavered and then wavered some more.
But, as often happens deadlines have pulled my out of my funk and the brushes are firmly back in hand.
As some of you know I've been doing year 3 studies at BSA Browne School of Art under the careful guidance of Matthew Browne, Director & Founder, Artist & Head Tutor and esteemed Artist & Tutor Kathryn Stevens. It's been an incredible year. I've loved my Wednesdays at school, in the company of the tutors and a charismatic bunch of talented fellow students and I've learned more than I could have imagined. We continued our weekly classes on Zoom through August to November, and tried to work at home, in kitchens and dining tables and in spare rooms, garages and bedrooms, though it definitely has not been the same as being at school, I can tell you! I will miss this beautiful bunch of people as we go our own ways next year. But the very good news is it now looks likely that we can have our end of year art exhibition on site and in person and celebrate some new found freedom and our exhibition in one champagne laden swoop!

A little bit of other exciting news......
I found out last week I have been excepted as one of only a handful of new artists into the
Bay Of Plenty Garden & Art Festival for 2022, 17th to 20th November 22.
In its 13th year, the festival takes place in beautiful private gardens around the Bay of Plenty, opened to the public for just this very special weekend, once a year.
I'll be matched with a garden that relates to my artistic style and will be exhibiting within that garden space, so very much looking forward to it!
https://www.gardenandartfestival.co.nz/ is a very popular event, so if you are interested I suggest you join the mailing list for information about ticket sales etc.
